Oaklands Crossing - Almost there....and what is next for our Community?

05 Jul 2019

If you haven't had an opportunity to use the new Oaklands Railway Station recently, I encourage everyone to pop down, have a look and catch a train (or two!).  The Station looks fantastic, it is bright and airy and is a first class addition to our community.

The landscaping works are also progressing well with a range of native trees, shrubs and ground covers planted along all four access points to the station.

It isn't long to go now before PTPA will finish the remainder of the Project Works.  I would like to thank everyone at PTPA for their hard work in bringing our vision to Fix Oaklands Crossing to life.

Station Amenities Building & Southern Forecourt

The new Station Amenities Building is situated within the southern forecourt and has been designed to complement the new station and surrounding landscape.  It is made from a black steel framework with a perforated black cladding and roof which is angled to create a modern look and match the nearby ramp and station canopy.

The Station Amenities Building also contains the power switchboard and bicycle storage.  The bicycle storage is accessed by swiping a MetroCard, which opens the gate to store up to 16 bikes.

If you are walking past, check out the forecourt benches which have power points to charge your devices, as well as the water fountain (to keep you and your furry friends hydrated).

Night Works

Whilst we are getting closer to the end of this Project, there is still much to be done.  Throughout the remainder of July the Project Team will be undertaking intermittent night works  in order to finalise the road upgrades on Morphett, Diagonal and Dunrobin Roads, as well as stormwater installation and footpath works along Morphett Road and Murray Terrace.

Car park construction will also occur on Murray and Railway Terraces, together with resurfacing and line marking along Morphett and Diagonal Roads.

Now onto the next new exciting project ...Fix Brighton Road - Hove Crossing

Like Oaklands Crossing, Hove Crossing on Brighton Road has been a long standing problem in our community and I am excited to announce that in conjunction with the Federal Member for Boothby, Nicolle Flint MP and my state colleague the Hon David Speirs MP, we have secured $171 million from the State and Federal Budgets to address this issue and find a solution.

Having worked very closely and communicating regularly with the community via my Oaklands Crossing E-News, it is my intention to offer the same service to the community for Hove Crossing.

We are currently planning "drop in" days to discuss the Project and hear the ideas from the community.

To receive these updates as new information comes to hand, please head to my new website, www.fixbrightonroad.com.au or phone my office on (08) 8377 3500 and mention “Fix Brighton Road - Hove Crossing”.
